It’s Not So Bad! | How To Prepare For a Flight on Spirit Airlines

I know, I know.  Spirit airlines has THE worst reputation of any airline I can think of.  There are plenty of HILARIOUS reviews online, like this one and this one.  But when I found myself needing to fly down to Dallas for a weekend wedding, I could not bring myself to pass up the $116 round trip fare on Spirit, when the other more reputable airlines were charging $250+.   Here’s what I’m doing to try to navigate all the foolishness that comes with booking a flight on Spirit Airlines.

So, you just got engaged.  Congratulations!  Now you’re faced with planning the wedding of your dreams.  Couples are spending more on weddings than ever before, with the average wedding costing $31,213 in 2015.  It can be easy to get caught up in all the wedding hype during this exciting time, and stress yourself out with all the options and costs associated with your day.  But wedding planning does not have to involve paying an arm and a leg for a fancy wedding and reception (unless you want it to)!  If you do a DIY Wedding, you can still have a beautiful day without a ton of stress and expenses.

How Do You Afford To Travel So Much??

Being able to travel is a wonderful experience.  Not only does it give you the opportunity to learn about and appreciate other people, cultures and experiences, but there are also studies that suggest that travel has mental health benefits as well.  Unfortunately, being able to afford travel seems to be an elusive thing for far too many people.  I realize that everyone’s priorities and financial responsibilities aren’t the same.  But if you find yourself having trouble finding extra cash in your account to put towards travel, I have some suggestions for how you can re-structure your finances and make it easier to travel more often.

Taste of the Caribbean: My Attempt at Pig Foot Souse

Pig feet seem to have a bad reputation here in the states.  Normally when we think of pork, we’re thinking ribs, pork chops, or bacon.  However, pig foot souse is a very popular dish across the caribbean.  My first experience with pig foot souse was in Turks and Caicos, when I was invited to a friend’s mother’s house for breakfast.  At first glance, it doesn’t look super appetizing, but it smells and tastes delicious!  I’ve been on the hunt for it when I go to the caribbean ever since, but apparently this dish is only served in the mornings for breakfast.  I can’t get up that early on vacation!
